I have some kind of mixed emotions here. Part of me likes to see someone serve time for the crime they committed. In this case, Ms Gazlay assaulted me with a pen. This pen could be considered a “deadly weapon”, which was a reason for the original charge of Aggravated Battery. The aggravated battery charge is a felony and could get her up to 15 years in jail.
However, today I met with the prosecuting attorney on the case, and they are trying to get her to plead guilty to a lesser charge of misdemeanor battery. I understand they have a large case load, but I would really like her to be punished and to serve some time for what she did. Who knows what could have happened had it been a sharp object.
