I wanted to write a post, kind of just for the memories so I remember about this, as something like this has never happened to me before. Or at least never happened to a church building that I attended or previously attended.

Firefighters extinguished a second alarm fire at a church in Boise on S Maple Grove Rd early this morning. Upon arrival, Boise Fire found active fire on the first floor extending into the attic space. There was also heavy smoke and heat, but fire crews went straight to work and had the fire knocked down in 6 minutes. Unfortunately, there was extensive fire damage to the church. No civilians were injured. One firefighter suffered a head related injury. The cause of the first is currently under investigation.

I first learned of this when I got an email at about 11 am from the Stake Presidency informing us of this and asking us to avoid going near the building. We used to be in the Devonshire Ward of the Boise Idaho Amity Stake, but during the boundary realignment we got assigned to a new ward. Our new ward, Valley Heights, and the Devonshire ward both had been assigned to the Five Mile Building. In the meantime the 3 wards meeting in the Maple Grove building have been relocated for Sunday and weekday meetings.

Blue Meadows will now meet at the Stake Center, Moon Ridge at the Five Mile, Silver Sage will meet at Boise West Stake Center, all at 1:30 PM for the foreseeable future.
